Italian.
First Action Hero, the title makes very little sense. This guy isn’t so much into action as he is into shooting people.
This movie starts out slow, it slows down a little in the middle then comes together in a great final showdown, mass murder at the end.

Ferrari or Fiero…maybe Fiat, is the main dude, he moves back to Miami and knows a bunch of people, even in the mafia. I think his father-in-law is one of them. There are a lot of relationships that are tough to keep track of, especially if you don’t really pay attention. He has a daughter that shows up and an ex-lover that I thought got killed but didn’t then does get killed. All of the Italian women look alike, there…I said it.
So Fabio goes through the movie shooting people. Other people do some shooting too, his gay partner Bogie or Hoagie gets shot…good guys, bad guys and innocent citizens all get shot. There isn’t much else going on, lots of mafia chatter all about getting eachother and the cop that is hot on their tails. There are some great shooting deaths; some simple tip-overs and others spastic overacting, some one-shot kills and others take half a clip. The hottub/pool shooting scene is funny; three people dance-die then end up neatly arranged on a lawnchair and in the hottub. A girl kind of gets hit by a motorcycle and then Fiero manhandles her, probably doing more damage than the bike, that is funny. Great dialogue too, here are some close quotes…
While eating: “Great food, what’s the recipe?” “Some takeaway garbage.”
“This is a setup job!” “Tell the judge”…which is actually what you should do. Later someone says something similar and he says “tell the jury”…huh.
“Why does he look so familiar?”…”Who the fuck are you?”
Its alright up to the end but the final chaos is worth watching. It takes place at a rock quarry, all the workers are apparently trained in weapons because when shit starts to go down they go to a window where they all receive guns then go back to their places. The rollover shooting from the Mercedes, the car with the guy hanging out of the sunroof, there is a VW Scirocco, Fiero shoots an upside-down car until it explodes and then a van drives into the quarry…all good stuff. Good guy shoots a lot of people and they let you know they’ve been shot.
Without the end this was a bit of a sleeper, just enough lines and wacky shootings to keep it moving forward. The end is gold though.
