No Escape, No Return is just a dumb title. They say it in the movie and makes no sense. None. Somebody screwed up on that.
It’s the story of three rogue cops that should not only have their badges and guns taken away but should be arrested and incarcerated…nope…they get special assignments instead.
The movie started out with some promise but didn’t keep up. There are drugs, a black
nightclub owner, dirty cops and a Mexican/South American fort that comes out of nowhere at the end. It is a confusing plot situation…don’t pay too much attention.
There is some good action and questionable scenes. The three cops have really nice houses, there is a great shootout at a night club when the three amigos go in on their own. For some reason the bad guys have beakers full of dry ice and colored liquids and a pile of money with a bill counter. The cops and bad guys have a tough time with locked doors in that room, bad guys don’t lock the door they should to keep people out and when they escape they lock a door from the outside presumably with a key. The Asian cop tries the knob and we see the deadbolt latch that controls the lock but he doesn’t attempt it…? No cops show up at the club until the very end yet later on they get into a fist fight at a pub and there are two uniforms there after a few punches. There is three lesbians in a stall in the mens room, gross, the good guy touches every surface in the mens rooms…also gross. At the end there is a car chase/collison that makes no sense, though the derby cars are a nice hint that there will be some car-on-car action.
There is a police captain that likes to heckle them, I think he turns out to be a bad guy, there is a the famish guy that is FBI, he hires them on even though they were suspended or supposed to be…that’s a weird chain of events.
At the end the movie ends up on Cesar’s compound…maybe there was some lead in to that, if so I missed it. There is some action there but it’s underwhelming. There are two helicopters, I think they were supposed to be the same one.
At one point the rich black guy says “you are on my death wish”…so he sounds like an idiot. There is also a great face on the cop that gets killed by the other cop in what looks like an interrogating room…funny.
I’ll be honest here, I don’t really remember how the movie ends but it does and I was happy about it. I would suggest you skip this one.
2 out of 5 white tuxedos for No Escape No Repeat No Surrender No Excuse.
Seriously if there is no escape why does the return make sense? Why didn’t they go with “No Escape, No Surrender”…or just “No Escape” or “No Surrender” or anything else that makes more sense.
