Tunnels or Criminal Act (1989)

It must be tough to title a movie, so many options, directions to go…how to choose just one?

Tunnels
You won’t find Mean Joe Greene

Tunnels, as I was introduced to it, is a photojournalism adventure into the storm sewers under a failing newspaper office. Sound exciting? Didn’t think so. It all begins when Al from the diner finds a pretty average, if not small rat in down there. Daisy Duke and her dim-whited friend decide to do some work and look into it. They end up finding a large man, a 3/4 sized man and a bunch of bullshit. I think the plot is basically human trafficking, but not in the normal sense. In this traffic they are shipping homeless men out of the city on ships. I guess to clean up the city, the mayor might be involved and there may have been some other plotty stuff going on. Right! The brothers, one might be the mayor or at least a rich business man. The other a playboy and master manipulator.

There are no monsters. No giants or killer rats. That was a letdown. The acting is pretty bad, not bad enough to be funny so don’t get excited. There are some continuity problems, those are sort of entertaining. One of the big arm wrestlers from Over The Top is the big bad guy. By the end of it though you will be glad it’s over. I would not watch this movie if I were you, unless you are a huge Catherine Bach fan or have a relative in the movie.

I give it 1 out of five bagged rats.
